Jury Trial Delayed – Court Scheduling Problems

The trial is delayed (no longer July 27th) until the court can find a 7 day block to fit it in. Updates will be posted here as available.


The School District rejected the City’s December 2022 offer to reappraise the property, and the City’s motion for summary judgement was dismissed last March. The result is the parties are headed to a jury trial which is currently scheduled to start on June 27th.

We are gathering additional details and timing for the trial in the hope some of you will join us in the courtroom to observe. More details will be provided the week before the trial.

Amicus-style Friends of the Court Brief Filed

Friends of Oppenlander submitted a formal statement to the court on behalf of the thousands of you wanting Oppenlander to remain as an active park in perpetuity for today’s and future families, children and city residents. See the brief here

In the absence of this purchase, Oppenlander will become either 35 single-family R-10 homes, or up to 65 duplex units per the new Oregon law requiring cities to increase housing density, regardless of the R-10 zoning. All of these residents will be looking for more park access – and we will have just eliminated the only full-sized athletic fields in the central and north sides of the city.
